Half Right, Still Down: CPI Tuesday Decides the Mood
We won 51% of our trades last week and still finished -$4,539. Hot jobs data has the Fed hike talk loud heading into Tuesday's CPI, so here's the setup and why win rate lies.
TL;DR
Hot jobs data and 73% December hike odds put CPI on Tuesday, Nov. 10 at 8:30 a.m. ET in the spotlight.
We won 51% of 222 trades and still finished -$4,539. IWM, SPY and QQQ did the damage.
Double or Nothing (simulated) printed +$10,228 off a 500% NVDA put despite a -$7,596 IWM loss.
Nvidia earnings are scheduled for Nov. 17 while China chip headlines keep the AI trade jumpy.

Hot jobs data and 73% December hike odds rattle stocks ahead of Tuesday's CPI
The market spent the week getting slapped by good news. October payrolls came in at 165,000 against 65,000 expected, wages rose 0.4%, and unemployment slid to 4.1%. Great for workers, terrible for anyone hoping the Fed would chill. The 10-year yield (what the government pays to borrow for a decade) sat around 4.86%–4.88%, and December rate-hike odds were reported near 73%.
@Kalshi had the hike odds even higher at 76%. The S&P 500 fell 2.7% on the week and the Nasdaq fell 4.4%, even after Friday's bounce of 0.3% and 1.1%. @kevinxu summed up the mood with "can't believe this was literally the top." Meanwhile @Kalshi also relayed the Citigroup CEO saying the drop "won't run longer or deeper." So the vibe is half panic, half somebody in a nice suit saying relax.
The next test is the October CPI report (the monthly read on how fast prices are rising), out . Before that, Monday, Nov. 9 has Occidental Petroleum, Constellation Energy and KKR reporting. Tuesday adds CoreWeave, and Thursday, Nov. 12 brings Cisco and Applied Materials. The tape is jumpy and the calendar is loaded. That's the weather we're trading into.
Groups in this report
The calls behind the numbers above. Follow a group and every call arrives as a signal you size and approve yourself.
Win rate is how often you're right. Payoff is how much you make when right versus lose when wrong. You need both, and payoff is the one people forget.
Say you take 10 trades and risk $100 on each. When you win, you make $300. When you lose, you lose the full $100. You're right only 4 times out of 10, a 40% win rate.
4 wins x $300 = $1,200
6 losses x $100 = $600 lost
Net: +$600
Now flip it. Say you win 7 out of 10, but each win makes $50 and each loss costs $150. That's 7 x $50 = $350 won, and 3 x $150 = $450 lost. Net: -$100, even at 70% right.

Index-option bleed: IWM, SPY and QQQ drive a -$4,539 week as win rate hovers near 51%
Here's the part that stings. We closed 222 trades, 113 winners and 109 losers, so a 51% win rate. The week still ended at -$4,539. Winning half your trades and losing money means the losers were fatter than the winners. That's the whole story.
The damage was mostly index stuff. IWM (the small-cap index fund) went -$9,629 across 36 trades. SPY lost -$7,821 and QQQ lost -$4,772. The worst single trade was an IWM put (a bet the fund drops) that hit its end-of-day close and expired worthless for -$7,596, a clean -100%. One trade erased a pile of small wins. Rude.
The disciplined play heading into CPI is boring on purpose. Smaller size, defined risk, and zero hero trades on a day when one number can flip the whole tape. Index options on a macro-data morning are a coin flip with a bigger bill when you lose.
Nvidia's China chip saga and AI off-balance-sheet debt keep the AI trade on edge
Nvidia fell 9% on Nov. 5 and the news cycle did not help. @Kalshi and @WatcherGuru both posted that the US reportedly cleared Nvidia chip sales to Chinese firms with "empty offices." Keep the word "reportedly" in your head, because we can't confirm the claims from what we've got. Separately, H200 chips bound for China were reported stranded. It's an export-control mess either way.
Then @bulltheoryio dropped the number that made AI bulls squint. The 7 biggest AI companies have committed $4.5 trillion to future data center leases and purchase deals that don't show up as debt on their balance sheets. That's a lot of IOUs the books don't show.
There was some support under the story too. @Kalshi relayed the OpenAI CFO saying the election didn't change their data center spending plans. TheStreet noted Hive lining up $129 million to buy Nvidia AI chips. Nvidia's next earnings are scheduled for Nov. 17, so the AI trade has a date circled. Until then it's headlines driving the bus.
Simulated Double or Nothing puts and PLTR agent shine while the manual book lags
Some groups ate. Double or Nothing, a simulated (paper money) group, made +$10,228 on paper. The best trade of the week was its NVDA put, +$9,500 for a 500% gain, closed by an auto full exit. It went 5-for-9 on calls, a 56% win rate. It also took the -$7,596 IWM put loss, the week's worst trade, and still finished well up. That's the lesson below in action.
Seeing Stone, the PLTR agent, went 4-for-5 on calls with +$870 real and +$3,843 simulated. PLTR was the best ticker of the week at +$4,716. INTC (+$2,964) and IREN (+$2,537) also paid.
Then there's the manual book, which went 9-for-29 on calls, a 31% win rate, for -$2,498 real money. We got cooked, and the autopsy is simple. Too many swings, not enough winners, and nothing big enough to cover the misses.
FORM GUIDE
Reading the tape off the numbers, not giving advice:
Mission Control (SpaceX agent): 21 trades, 35.9 % return, 62% win rate. Steady and green, the busiest hot hand on the card.
Double or Nothing (simulated): 9 trades, 124.5 % return, 56% win rate. Huge return off a so-so win rate, which is what fat winners do.
Seeing Stone (PLTR agent): 7 trades, 28 % return, 86% win rate. Right often and paid for it.
Line Cook: 8 trades, 0.3 % return, 100% win rate. Never lost, barely made anything. Tiny winners are a payoff problem too.
Booster Shot (MRNA agent): 6 trades, -24 % return, 67% win rate. Won two-thirds of the time and still finished red, so the losers were big.

The number to track is expected value (your average result per trade). Multiply win rate by average win, then subtract loss rate times average loss. Small, capped losses and occasional big winners let a low win rate still print. Frequent small wins with one giant loss is the reverse, and it's how a 51% week turns red.
